One of my favorite things to do (and something I ALWAYS recommend to our guests) is to wander through the Rio Cuale Market. It is a total sensory overload in the best way possible! The colors of the pottery, the smell of the spices, and the rhythmic sound of the river flowing nearby… it is just PURE MAGIC!
You can find the most incredible hand-crafted jewelry, traditional clothing, and unique souvenirs that aren’t just mass-produced junk. It’s all about supporting our local artisans who put their heart and soul into their work. And when you get hungry, there are so many little food stalls where you can get authentic tacos, tamales, and fresh fruit juices for a total steal!
We always tell our guests: don’t be afraid to wander! The best experiences in Puerto Vallarta happen when you step away from the tourist traps and into the real neighborhoods. Whether it's a tiny art gallery tucked away on a side street or a family-run café where they remember your name after just one visit, these are the moments that will stay with you forever.
The Most Beautiful Walk in the World!
If you’re staying in the Amapas area (which is just south of the main hub of Old Town), you are in for a serious treat! One of the absolute highlights of staying in this part of town is the walk to Los Muertos Beach. It is soooooo dreamy!
It’s a gorgeous, scenic path that winds along the edge of the ocean, with palm trees swaying above you and the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks below. The best part? The walk from Amapas to Los Muertos Beach only takes 10–15 minutes! It’s the perfect distance to get a little bit of movement in before you find a spot on the sand to relax for the rest of the day.
You’ll pass by some of the most beautiful low-rise condos in the city, all while enjoying panoramic views of the entire Banderas Bay. Honestly, I could do this walk every single day and never get tired of it. It’s the kind of walk where you just have to stop every few feet to take another photo because everything is just so STUNNING!
