OH MY GOSH, there is absolutely nothing: and I mean NOTHING: like a Sunday morning in Puerto Vallarta! If you haven’t experienced that first light hitting the peaks of the Sierra Madre while the city is still rubbing its eyes, you are seriously missing out on the soul of this place! While everyone else is sleeping off their Saturday night margaritas, the real magic is happening on the balconies of the best puerto vallarta apartments.
I am so excited to share this with you because Sundays here aren't just a day off; they’re a weekly celebration of everything we love about our home. Whether you're a first-timer or you've been living the Puerto Vallarta digital nomad life for months, there is a specific rhythm to a Vallarta Sunday that you just HAVE to feel to believe!
Waking Up with the Mountains
Imagine this: You’re tucked into a cloud-like bed in one of the most beautiful condos for rent in puerto vallarta, and the air is just perfectly crisp. You step out onto your private terrace, and BAM! The Sierra Madre is right there, glowing in shades of deep purple and bright orange. It is SOOO BEAUTIFUL it literally takes your breath away every single time.
Sundays start early for the locals. You’ll hear the distant church bells from the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish echoing through the cobblestone streets of Old Town. It’s a sound that grounds you. It reminds you that you aren’t just in another tourist destination: you’re in a living, breathing Mexican community. That is why we are so passionate about our family-owned rentals. We want you to feel that connection, too!

Finding Your Authentic "Sunday Base"
When you’re looking for a place to stay, you’ve GOT to choose the right neighborhood to get that authentic vibe. We always recommend sticking to Old Town (which we also call the Zona Romántica) and Amapas. Why? Because that’s where the heart is!
Forget those massive, soul-less hotel zones. You want a place where you can walk out your front door and immediately be part of the neighborhood. When you’re hunting for the perfect rental, look for these "Must-Haves":
- A View of the Sierra Madre: You want to see those mountains!
- Local Management: Stay with a family that actually lives here. (Like us! Hi!)
- Walkability: You should be able to get to the market and the beach without ever needing a car.
If you’re staying in Amapas, you get the best of both worlds: peace, quiet, and incredible jungle-meets-ocean views. And the best part? The walk from Amapas down to the famous Los Muertos Beach takes ONLY 10–15 minutes! It’s a gorgeous stroll that gets your blood pumping and your spirits high before you even hit the sand.
The Sunday Morning Market Ritual
Once you’ve soaked in the sunrise, it’s time to eat! And I mean EAT. Sundays are for the markets. We tell all our guests to skip the hotel breakfast buffet and head straight to where the locals go.
The Mercado 5 de Diciembre is a total MUST. It’s loud, it’s colorful, and it smells AMAZING. You can grab the freshest mangoes you’ve ever tasted or sit down at a tiny "fonda" for some authentic birria or chilaquiles. This is where you really get to experience the local flavors in Old Town!
The energy in the market on a Sunday morning is ELECTRIC. Everyone is catching up, kids are running around, and the vendors are showing off the best of their harvest. It’s the perfect time to pick up some handmade tortillas to take back to your condo for a late-night snack.

Escaping into the Sierra Madre
If you’re feeling adventurous after breakfast, the mountains are calling! One of our favorite things to do is head into the Sierra Madre foothills. There are trails that wind through the lush jungle where the air is cool and the birdwatching is incredible.
You don’t have to go far to feel like you’re a world away. Just a short trip inland and you’re surrounded by massive parota trees and hidden streams. It’s so peaceful and such a contrast to the high energy of the beach. We always tell our guests that to truly know Puerto Vallarta, you have to know the mountains just as well as the ocean.
Afternoon Vibes: Beach vs. Balcony
By the time midday rolls around, you have a very important decision to make. Do you head down to Los Muertos Beach to join the Sunday fiesta, or do you retreat to your beautiful condo for a siesta?
If you choose the beach, prepare for FUN! Sundays on the sand are a family affair. You’ll see generations of locals enjoying the water, listening to live music, and sharing huge plates of grilled fish. It’s loud, it’s happy, and it’s infectious!
But honestly? Sometimes staying back at the condo is just as good. There is something so special about being in a space that feels like a home, not a rental. Our condos are filled with traditional Mexican tiles, local artwork, and big windows that let that golden Vallarta light flood in. You can just open the doors, let the ocean breeze through, and enjoy the peace.

Why We Love What We Do
We are so proud to be a small, family-run business. Being born and raised right here in Puerto Vallarta means we don't just "know" the area: we are part of it! When you stay with us, you aren’t just a booking number. You’re our guest, and we want to make sure you have the most authentic, incredible, and LIFE-CHANGING experience possible.
We love sharing our favorite "off-the-beaten-path" spots, from the best taco stand that only opens at midnight to the quietest stretch of beach for a sunset meditation. That’s the difference when you book with locals. We care about this community, and we want you to love it as much as we do!
Ending the Day on a High Note
As the sun starts to dip back down toward the horizon, the sky turns into a masterpiece. If you thought the sunrise was good, wait until you see a Puerto Vallarta sunset! The way the light hits the low-rise buildings along the Malecón and reflects off the bay is just… WOW.
Grab a cold drink, sit on your balcony, and just soak it all in. You’ve spent the day living like a local, eating real food, and connecting with the nature that makes this place so unique. That is what a real vacation is all about!

We can’t wait to welcome you to our little slice of paradise! If you’re ready to trade the "tourist trap" for a truly authentic escape, come stay with us. Let’s make your next Sunday morning one you’ll never forget!
