The “Cool” new racism
I am not referring to my religious beliefs, my race, my sexual preference, nor my gender…
I am a Republican.
I mean, how many times does one have to feel like they need to be shoved into the political “closet” to even enter into society these days?.. Where is the tolerance or equality that everyone has supposedly striven for??..
I am not an uber sensitive person that does not own a sense of humor. I am not out preaching Hell/Fire/Damnation on the street corners.. I am not waiting behind the bushes at abortion clinics, ready to curse the already traumatized clients..I am not rich. And I do not own a gun.
But, my political leanings are day after day ridiculed on variety “comedy” shows, Internet ads, TV commercials, bloggers, newspapers.celebrities, basically anywhere in Uptown, or any larger metropolis.. I know it is obviously more during the elections, and EACH side does have their share of the mud slinging, but .I have noticed it is getting worse,from the Dems or Liberals.. not just during the election times
..you are laughed at for being a republican and commended for being a democrat..or liberal..It is a constant daily reminder that there really isn’t tolerance in this country like everyone is “trying” so hard to create.. sure, its cool now to be young and a democrat.. I see kids that don’t even know how to form a complete sentence with a Barak t-shirt on… Isnt the same argument used by the same democrats that say it is wrong to bring our children to church with us?.. same thing, they have no choice. (except when it is cool)
I hear that if I am a republican, then I am “silly” “hateful” “racist” “money hungry”"Gun wielding” etc..
That just because a republican INDIVIDUAL is in the white house that has not been the greatest, that WE ALL must feel the EXACT same way as him, and that if another republican gets in office, they will be the EXACT same person!..
I guess its the arrogance that gets me. The coldness of the statements. and the “I am better than you attitude”.smugness and all around nastiness..
This isn’t a pro John McCain rant.. this isn’t even an anti Barak Obama rant. In fact, He does have some good ideas, but overall, I disagree with his views. I am sure that he is a good father and husband, and a great friend. And I would feel horrible of someone actually tried to harm him.
Nope, this is merely, a sick of being laughed at and made fun of rant. Tired of feeling like an outcast. sick of the “I thought you were smart” comments. I have friends and family members from all areas of the political spectrum, and we get along great. I just cant understand why some choose to be so hateful.
I guess im just asking folks to be a little more nicer.
